Welcome to the new Historical Howden web site
The site tells the story of Howden down the ages and concentrates on the World War1 with the opening of the Royal Naval Airship Station that was built just North of Howden for anti-submarine patrols to defend the North Eastern ports from the German U-boats.
It also covers the more famous airships that were based there at times and the lost of the R.38/ZR2. Plus it tells the story of the building of the Barnes Wallis designed R.100 airship.

Where is Howden?
Howden is a small East Yorkshire town mid-way between York and Hull Just off the M62 junction 37
